2,800 students now school-ready through brand new school supplies

Classes have officially started but way before students enter their classrooms weeks ago, Hedcor made sure that students were school-ready

Through the assistance of volunteer employees, Hedcor conducted its annual school supplies donations and Brigada Eskwela activities across various schools in Mindanao.

School-ready with brand new school supplies

Complete with notebooks, pencils, crayons and other school supplies, over 2,800 students are now equipped with brand new materials for the school year through Hedcor’s school supplies distribution. These school supplies kits also aim to double as a source of motivation for the students to attend their classes and study harder.

These students hail from 10 recipient schools from the municipality of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon namely: Santiago Elem. School, Guilang-guilang Elem. School, Ilignan Elem. School, Impakibel Elem. School, Guihean Elem. School, Sabangan Elem. School, Abyawan Elem. School, Consolacion Elem. School, Kihan-ay Elem. School, Lingion Elementary School.

The donation came in timely as these schools are far-flung and have little access to quality materials for education.

Aside from school supplies, school facilities also received an upgrade through Brigada Eskwela activities. Bukidnon-based Santiago Elementary School received assistance in concreting a 15-meter pathwalk, providing comfort and convenience to the students and teachers. Three more schools in Davao and Davao del Sur also received assistance in facility repair and landscaping activities for its school grounds.

Advancing communities through education

These education-centered projects, totalling to about 1 million pesos, aim to provide a safer, better, and learning-conducive school facility to the host communities of Hedcor. These activities also brought together over a hundred Hedcor employee volunteers.

Bernadette N. Cañete, school principal of Sabangan Elementary School, was one of the many who thank Hedcor for such initiatives.“We believe that Hedcor truly value education. We hope that your company will continue to implement with this kind of activity which is a very helpful tool to motivate children to attend classes regularly and continued interest in their schooling. We will forever be grateful to Hedcor & Aboitiz Foundation. Daghang salamat!”

Hedcor has over 11 hydropower plants in Mindanao which generates a total of 135MW of clean and renewable energy. Hedcor is a run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPower.
