Irisan Hydro 1 Power Project
The run-of-river hydropower project will rise in Barangay Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet accessible through the Asin Road. Construction broke ground on October 16, 2010 as Sitio Aguyad, and is expected to be commissioned in October 2011.
The construction of the plant will generate employment of over 200 skilled workers from the community during the construction phase, and employment preference of local residents during the operation of the project.
Benefits of the host community through the company’s corporate Social Responsibility Projects will include environmental preservation and assistance focused on education, healthcare and livelihood. This is on top of the share to the community through the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the local governments of Tuba, Benguet and Hedcor on October, 2010.
A 565-meter access road which also serves as a farm-to-market road for the community was completed in January 2011.
The project includes the construction of the intake, 32 meters of conveyance line and 470 of steel conveyance pipes. The annual estimated generation of 11 million kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable energy, will be sold through the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)
The project will be registered under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as a Clean development Mechanism (CDM) Project.
