Aboitiz Hydro firms nominees for Dole Secretary Award

Davao City – For fostering better relations between labor and management, AboitizPower’s subsidiaries, Hedcor, Inc. and Hedcor Sibulan, Inc. received the prestigious nomination for Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary’s Award last 7th Social Partnership at Work: Private-Public Partnership Towards Labor Law Compliance recognition ceremony.

 

Held at Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City on September 23, Hedcor COO and President Rene Ronquillo represented by vice president for Business Development Gregorio Jabonillo received the award together with the Hedcor’s Labor Management Council officers and team members.

 

“It is an honor to be recognized by one of the highest labor authority in the country, DOLE. This marks our commitment in doing our works the right way at the right time while building a strong foundation for employee-management relationship,” Jabonillo said.

 

Three companies from Region XI made it to the nomination awards. Other companies who bagged the nomination are Davao Light and Power Company and Tagum Agricultural Development Company. DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz presented the certificates to the awardees.

 

Thus, Hedcor, Davao Light and together with other companies, a manifesto of commitment in “Revolutionizing LMC’s” through DOLE’s iCAN program or Industry Compliance Advisory Network within their own company was presented to the secretary.

 

Having been honored in other labor-related awards such as Tripartite Certificate of Compliance with Labor Standards in 2012, Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace Award in 2013 and Child Labor Free-Establishment Award, Hedcor manifests its outright compliance to labor standards.

 

With more than 500 team members, Hedcor sustains its good working labor relations with Hedcor Kabisig Council, the LMC of the company. Since its inception in 2005, the council advocates programs to foster family welfare and enhance the quality of work life.

 

The council, members and the management work hand-in-hand in carrying out CSR programs, fund-raising activities for the members in need, and implementing initiatives to improve wellness among employees.

 

Hedcor was also cited in 2010 by DOLE for Gawad Kaligtasan and Kalusugan Award for Occupational Safety and Health and Safety Milestone Award. Also, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines awarded the Kapatiran sa Industriya Award to Hedcor.

 

Hedcor is currently operating in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Benguet and Ilocos Sur with a capacity of 170 megawatts and is currently constructing the 14MW Sabangan run-of-river hydroelectric project in Sabangan, Mt. Province.
