Fisherfolks in Sta. Cruz receive relief goods after monsoon-caused disaster

STA CRUZ, DAVAO DEL SUR. Along with the heavy rainfall that struck Barangays Darong and Astorga in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur were monsoon waves that dreadfully hit their shore areas. While there were no casualties nor injuries reported, locals--mostly fishermen--had their properties partially or totally damaged hindering them to set out at sea and earn for a living.

Realizing the host communities' need for assistance, over 700 relief packs with ready-to-eat goods were distributed by the first responders, Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation, to the affected residents. The relief operations were also attended by the Sta. Cruz’s Local Government Unit, LDRRMO, and representatives from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. 

Sta. Cruz Mayor Jaime Lao Jr. and Vice Mayor Jerome Undalok, along with several Barangay officials, were also around during the said relief operations.

 

Hedcor is a run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPower. It currently operates four hydropower facilities in Sta. Cruz which has a combined generating capacity of 57 MW of clean and renewable energy.
