Four schools in Hedcor, Inc.’s host communities here in Benguet gather around to compete on navigating the computer, the man’s greatest invention.
Selected students from Ampucao Elementary School in Itogon, Beckel Elementary school and Bineng elementary school in La Trinidad, and Kiwas Elementary School in Tuba converge in a half day event to apply the learnings they received from Hedcor.
Prior to the competition the said schools received computer donations from the company as part of the unyielding corporate social responsibility of Hedcor.
“This is the final test if they use the computers wisely and they learned from computer literacy trainings we conducted” expressed Romeo Catingub, Hedcor’s Community Relations Officers who takes care the civic initiatives of the company to better lives of their host communities.
The competitions includes several activities on using office sofwares like word processing, power point presentation and excel. A quiz bee designed to test the students’ knowledge on the parts of the computer and the uses of the different toolbars energized the competition.
“It’s fun and I would like to compete again”one of the students said.
The competition concluded with favorable outcome. Each school excel in one aspect, each of them has strengths and weaknesses which can be improved through practice and additional training. They all went home with generous prices as a reward of their dynamic participation.Hedcor is a renewable energy developer with 11 plants distributed in the different municipalities in Benguet. Through its run-of-river hydropower plant, Hedcor is able to generate clean and renewable energy to power communities.
As a support to the community, Hedcor undertakes initiatives on education, health, livelihood and environment.
