In its effort to help facilitate prompt response to urgent situations, Hedcor helped its stakeholders invest in radio communication as an important asset in responding to urgent situations.
Last August 14 and 18, the Municipality of Sablan received 10 hand held radios and a computer set while Barangay Bineng in La Trinidad received 7 radios. The beneficiaries are hopeful that the hand held radios will help boost monitoring, reporting and responding to urgent conditions and in maintaining peace and order.
According to Sablan Mayor Arthur Baldo, the radios will be utilized by the Police Compacts, Bureau of Fire and Police Mobiles. This is to equip each office in responding to disasters and other untoward incidents especially that Sablan is one of the major gateways to the frequently visited City of Pines.
He further stressed, “Communication is one of the major concerns for the fast resolution of crimes. The faster and more accurate the information flows, the more effective our response or actions are.”
Sablan MPs is composed of 28-strong police officers headed by Chief of Police PSI Azalea Rabena.
The radios were licensed by the National Telecommunications Office. All in all the radios cost P125,000 pesos.
Sablan is the home of the 8MW Ampohaw hydropower plant built in 1990’s while Barangay Bineng of La Trinidad is hosting the11MW Bineng hydropower plants. For almost two decades Hedcor sustained its partnership with the municipality and the barangay through shared values.
Today Hedcor has 22 run-of river hydropower plants, 11 are located in Benguet, 9 in Davao, and one each in Ilocos Sur and Mt. Province.
EFFICIENT COMMUNICATION. Mayor Arthur Baldo leads the Municiplaity of Sablan in boosting monitoring, reporting and responding to urgent conditions and in maintaining peace and order. Through these hand held radio, fast response from Sablan Municipal Police and Bureau of Fire are heightened.
