Hedcor Group collectively planted over fourteen thousand trees along their different host communities around the country last July 20.
The initiative is an annual activity of the Aboitiz Group in which all of its business units around the country take part in. Launched in 2008, the annual Aboitiz wide tree planting activity aims at planting over 3 million trees by the end of 2015.
Over three hundred volunteers under the Hedcor group aided the community members planted different seedlings of acacia, mahogany, pine, cacao, narra and guyabano seedlings around their respective host communities.
The company’s base of operations in Benguet led the charge, planting five thousand trees around Sablan and Bakun. Other communities to benefit from the group’s tree planting initiative are Ilocos Sur, Davao del Sur, Davao City and Bukidnon.
The Hedcor Group, consisting of subsidiaries, Hedcor, Inc., Luzon Hydro Corporation, Hedcor Sibulan, Inc. Hedcor Tudaya, Inc. and Hedcor, Sabangan, Inc., develops and operates all of AboitizPower’s run-of-river hydropower plants.
The company alone has a pledge to plant 245,000 seedlings for the year of 2013 after attaining its target of 100,000 last year.
It is currently expanding its portfolio of run-of-river generating assets with plants currently under construction in the Mountain Province and Davao Del Sur. Through its expansion, the company aims to attain its target of generating a total of 2 Billion kWhs of clean and renewable energy by 2020.
Hedcor is the largest developer of run-of-river hydropower in the country owning and operating 19 hydropower plants in Benguet, Davao and Ilocos Sur with a total capacity of 155MWs.
