42.5 MW Sibulan Hydroelectric Power Project
The 42.5MW Sibulan Hydroelectric Power Project involves two cascading run-of-river hydropower generating facilities that tap the Sibulan and Baroring Rivers with an estimated annual generation of 212 million kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable energy. The energy produced will be sold to Davao Light and Power Company.
Hedcor Sibulan, Inc. (HSI) is the special purpose company organized to enter into contracts for the development, construction, and operation of, and to obtain financing for the Project.
The generated clean energy will reduce GHG emissions by more than 95,000 TCO2e (tons of carbon dioxide equivalents) annually by displacing energy that would have come from fossil fuel-fired power plants. Sibulan is the first Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)- registered hydropower project in the Philippines.
The Project will also contribute an estimated amount of Php700 million in sustainable benefits to its host communities such as new and improved farm to market roads, local employment, rural electrification, as well as scholarship programs.
11.5 MW Tamugan Hydroelectric Power Project
The 11.5-megawatt Tamugan Hydropower Project will harness Tamugan river and Gumalang creek in Davao City, estimated to generate 78 million kilowatt-hours of Cleanergy, annually.
The Tamugan Project is undertaken by Hedcor Tamugan, Inc., the special purpose company organized to enter into contracts for the development, construction, and operation of the Tamugan Project.
The feasibility study of the Tamugan Project commenced in September 2010 and the construction of the project is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2012. It is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2014.
Benefits of the host community through the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Projects will include environmental preservation and assistance focused on education, healthcare and livelihood.
The Tamugan Project will also generate income to the community and the municipality through shares over and above what is mandated by the law.
The proposed offtaker of the Tamugan Project is the Davao Light and Power Company, the distribution utility of Davao City.
The Project will be registered under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project.
3.8 MW Irisan Hydro 1 Power Project
The run-of-river hydropower project will rise in Barangay Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet accessible through the Asin Road. Construction broke ground on October 16, 2010 as Sitio Aguyad, and is expected to be commissioned in October 2011.
The construction of the plant will generate employment of over 200 skilled workers from the community during the construction phase, and employment preference of local residents during the operation of the project.
Benefits of the host community through the company’s corporate Social Responsibility Projects will include environmental preservation and assistance focused on education, healthcare and livelihood. This is on top of the share to the community through the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the local governments of Tuba, Benguet and Hedcor on October, 2010.
A 565-meter access road which also serves as a farm-to-market road for the community was completed in January 2011.
The project includes the construction of the intake, 32 meters of conveyance line and 470 of steel conveyance pipes. The annual estimated generation of 11 million kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable energy, will be sold through the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)
The project will be registered under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as a Clean development Mechanism (CDM) Project.
