Environment: Reforestation

Trees are paramount to the environment. It serves as homes to various species, promoting diversity of the flora and fauna; they hold down the ground that prevents land erosion; trees produce clean air for us to breathe; and, ultimately, it regulates and produces water.

Water, as we all know it, is essential not only to sustain life of living organisms, but the life of hydropower plants as well. We at Hedcor, creates an avenue for both the company and the communities to give back to nature and preserve our forests through reforestation projects.

In so doing, Hedcor adopts grassroots-based watershed management program where we annually donate fruit-bearing and non-fruit bearing tree seedlings to local high schools and landowners in our host communities. To date, we have adopted:

4,350 square-meter watershed conservation area at Buyog, Pinget, Baguio City;

1,000 hectares within Mt. Apo Natural Park;

An annual budget of P260,000.00 for reforestation in Ampohaw, Asin and Bakun.
