Team-up for medical missions

Hydro Electric Development Corporation (Hedcor) , in cooperation with the Aboitiz Group Foundation, Inc. (AGFI), and the Rotary Club of La Trinidad, held separate medical-dental missions at Bineng Barangay Hall, Bineng, La Trinidad and Kiwas Elementary School, Tadiangan, Tuba last October 2 and October 23, 2004, respectively.

Also present at Bineng were members of the Rotary Club of Urdaneta,
who donated medicines and assisted the team in attending to 156
patients in the area. While 166 residents benefited from the medical
outreach done in Tuba.
“We would like to thank the people of Bineng and Tadiangan for giving
us the opportunity to serve them,” said Rotary Club of La Trinidad
President Richard Lardizabal.

The medical-dental mission team, consisted of some 40 volunteers from
the Philippine Dental Association – Baguio Chapter, Rotaractors,
Hedcor grid employees, and Rotary officials, made available to the
community free medical consultations, physical theraphy, pediatrics,
and dental services. The team also went house-to-house in both
communities and administered anti-rabies vaccinations for pets.

“We do all of these for the community. We care for their health
because our communities are like family to us,” said Hedcor VP for
Admin and AGFI Board of Trustee Miguel Romero-Salas.

The group also distributed more than P40,000 worth of medicines for
free to the people in the community.

AGFI is the social development arm of the Aboitiz companies and
intends to address the needs of communities in areas concerning
education, enterprise deveopment, primary health care, and
envrionmental conservation and protection.

The Rotary Club of La Trinidad is an organization of business leaders
and professionals who provide humanitarian services.
