Members of the Bagobo-Tagabawa community in barangay Sibulan in Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur were relieved of their stress and discomfort after availing of the free medical and dental services from AboitizPower subsidiary Hedcor during the latter’s recent medical mission.
The event was even more fitting because it added color to the barangay’s 28th Araw ng Sibulan celebration last month.
“Kung sa tindahan pa ni [na mga tambal], mahal kaayo ug presyo. Nagpasalamat mi na naay ing ani na mga tambala kay dako kaayo ug tabang sa amoa,” said Nancy Apal, one of Hedcor's resident beneficiaries.
“Need kaayo sa mga tao [ang medical services]. Kita man nimo ang volume sa mga tao na nagkinahanglan ug ing-ani na mga services,” said Barangay Captain Danila Abe as more people lined up to avail of the services offered.
The medical mission included a general health check-up and consultation, dental check-up and tooth extraction with the help of volunteer doctors from Municipal Health Department of Sta. Cruz.
Hedcor employees also distributed prescription medicines to the beneficiaries. Residents also availed of the free dental check-up and tooth extraction offered by the dental team of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples. The volunteer doctors and dentists were assisted by barangay health workers.
Aside from medical services, residents were also able to ease their stress through the beauty and wellness services offered by the senior students of Sibulan National High School.
Their services included haircut, foot spa, and massage, among others. These students used the equipment and supplies donated by Hedcor to support the school’s technical-vocational strand.
Hedcor is the run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPower which operates four power facilities in Sibulan with a combined rated capacity of 57.4 MW. AboitizPower, together with its partners, is currently the largest private renewable energy company in the Philippines.
