Hedcor joins Aboitiz group-wide tree planting

DAVAO. The leading producer of clean and renewable energy, Hedcor, Inc., planted 400 rubber trees at Brgy. Malagos, Talomo District recently during the Aboitiz group-wide simultaneous tree planting for biodiversity enhancement.

This activity is the 3rd annual program of Aboitiz groups, targeted to plant more than 3 million trees like narra, bamboo, coconut, durian, molave, mahogany, rambotan, lanzones by the end of 7 years.

“Hedcor plant rubber trees this year because aside from it’s tolerance to heat and humidity, it has also a low-maintenance capacity. Thus, rubber trees have high rate of survival”, Hedcor environmental officer Junessa Guimalan explained.

Together with Hedcor were the UnionBank-Davao employees, also an Aboitiz-owned company.

In last year’s group-wide tree planting, Hedcor planted more than 2000 narra trees in Sitio Pogpog, Sibulan, Davao del Sur.

To note, Hedcor planted 60,747 trees for the last two quarters this year in the Province of Davao del Sur and in Davao City alone under the Watershed Management Plan.

“Daghan pa nga mga pagpananom og kahoy ang buhaton sa Hedcor sa mga dugang nga adlaw ug kini dakong ayuda aron mapreserba ang atong kinaihayan dili lang karon pero hangtod sa mga sunod nga henerasyon. (Hedcor will initiate more tree planting activities in the coming days and this is a big help in preserving our environment not only for today but for the next generations)”, Hedcor vice president Gregorio Jabonillo said.

Hedcor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, operates 18 run-of-river with a total capacity of 150 MW in Benguet and Davao.

AboitizPower is the holding company for the Aboitiz Group’s investments in power generation, distribution, retail and power services. It is a major producer of Cleanergy, with several hydroelectric and geothermal assets in its generation portfolio, and also has non-renewable power plants located across the country.
