The passion for protecting the environment also drive to aid the daily living of people within Hedcor’s community. The recent Eco Market Day held in the community of Bagobo-Tagabawa in Pogpog, Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur collects a total of 400 kilos of heavy metals, metal-sheets, bottles, tin cans, containers, cartoons and some parts of old home appliances. (When Hedcor started the Eco Market here, I also begin to segregate our recyclables. The amount I got from exchanging my trash is for the daily baon of my children in school)”. Hedcor’s Eco Market runs for 6 years already with the goal to help the host communities lessen the garbage that might pollute the river and teaches the community on proper garbage segregation and disposal. The recyclable wastes collected from this activity are sent to the nearest local buy-back center.
