Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur — In fulfillment of its memorandum of agreement, Hedcor Tudaya, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, turned over a concreted road and a covered court to the Bagobo-Tagabawa community in Barangay Kapatagan, Davao del Sur, recently.
“By providing the needs of our host community like basic infrastructures, we are heading towards inclusive growth with them. We allotted P1.6 million for the road concreting and P1.4 million for the construction of covered court,” said Hedcor vice president for Mindanao Operations, Rolando Pacquiao.
The blessing of the facilities was presided over by Father Joel Coledia. Kapatagan barangay chair Santiago Morales Jr. with the barangay council join the turnover rites.
The covered court was completed in the span of 60 days. The project was awarded to a local contractor, the Continental Industrial Builders and Traders Corp. Meanwhile, the 158-meter concrete covers steep parts of the access road that were opened during the Tudaya hydro construction.
Morales thanked Hedcor for fulfilling its promises. He said that they are grateful for the support the company is giving. He added that the covered court would be of various uses for the people in the barangay.
Last May, the Tudaya hydro 1 and 2 was inaugurated. The plants are expansion of the 42.5MW Sibulan hydropower plants. In total, Tudaya hydros produce about 13.6MW of clean and renewable energy.
Hedcor operates 21 run-of-river hydropower plants in Benguet, Davao City, Davao del Sur and Ilocos Sur with a total installed capacity of 170 megawatts. Very soon from now, the 68.8MW Manolo Fortich Hydro Project will ground break when the pertinent permits will be completed.
